XPS Foamed Sheet / Board is Energy Saving when used in the right way. It is a proven fact that by using XPS Insulation Sheeting in your home or using XPS Extruded Board and by a investment of just a few hundred dollars, one can reduce heating and cooling needs by about 40%. to 60%

Benefits of an XPS Thermal Insulated Foam Sheet or Board is an energy-efficient residence, with Savings on heating and cooling bills, also Moisture control in your home, and reduced incidence of mold and mildew.

XPS Process

Extruded Polystyrene (XPS) foam maintains its excellent insulating power over time, resists moisture absorption and has compressive strength that, when compared to other insulation products, is second-to-none.

XPS insulation boards begins as a solid granule form (General Purpose Polystyrene - GPPS). The granules are fed into a primary extruder where they are melted to 220 deg C and small percentages of additives (Talc Powder, Calcium, Flame retardant and colouring pigment) are mixed with the viscous fluid which is formed in the Primary extruder.

A blowing agent either HFC, HCFC which can be mixed with CO2. This mixture is for foaming the Board /Sheeting. The material is then feed into the secondary extruder. This extruder is used for cooling, the material is cooled from 220 deg C to +/- 90 deg C once it reaches the Die.  Under carefully controlled heat and pressure conditions, the mixture is forced through a die, at which time forming and shaping of Boards occurs.

Thereafter rigid foam board is then trimmed to the final product dimensions.

This continuous extrusion process produces a consistent quality foam product with a closed-cell structure that looks like a mass of uniform bubbles with common walls between them. Close inspection reveals there are few, if any, voids between the cells and that a continuous smooth skin, top and bottom, has formed.

XPS insulating materials are available in rigid boards in a wide range of sizes, thickness and compressive strengths that are ideally suited to a variety of construction applications.

Thermal Efficiency

The thermal efficiency of an insulating material is expressed as aR-value. R-value is the material’s resistance to heat flow. The higher the R-value, the greater the insulating power. Other materials provide insulation, but none maintain there R-value as well as XPS.

The high moisture resistance and high compressive strength of XPS helps to maintain high R-value for many years.  The R-value is important when insulation is used in buildings, because buildings energy consumption is less, creating lower operational costs.

Put simply, XPS insulation saves money.

Surfaces in the living area are kept warmer when it is cold outside and cooler inside when it is hot, so, insulation makes buildings more comfortable.

Moisture Resistance

A critical factor affecting long-term energy performance is the ability of an insulating material to resist moisture. Moisture may come in contact with insulation not only during construction, but throughout the life of the structure.

The closed-cell structure and lack of voids in XPS help it to resist moisture penetration.

XPS foam does not degrad or rot, aslo it is resistant to microorganisms found in soils.

Compressive Strength

The closed-cell structure of XPS imparts excellent long-term strength and durability.

Extruded Polystyrene Foam Insulation Uses

XPs is exceptional moisture resistance, insulating efficiency and a variety of compressive strengths, combined with air infiltration reduction and labor savings make XPS insulation a suitable – even preferable – insulating material for use in commercial, industrial and residential structures.

Roofs

Light-weight, easy to use, high R-value, high compressive strength and moisture resistance make XPS foam an efficient, effective choice for residential or commercial roofing insulation.. Its weather resistance properties allow XPS to be installed under the membrane.

Walls

XPS foam insulation provides a highly moisture-resistant and thermal insulation. XPS offers significant insulating performance while also reducing air infiltration.

Foundations

The long term R-value, high-compressive strength, exceptional moisture resistance and excellent resistance to chemicals typically found in soil make XPS ideal for use in your foundation of building, and housing.
